EDWARD V. MASI
Mr. Masi co-founded Education Development Specialists (EDS) in 2015 with William Spruce. EDS focused on developing projects for educational institutions and owners in the education space. EDS is now Aventine Development, a premier full-service commercial real estate development firm.
Mr. Masi is also the owner and CEO of Seawood Builders. Under his guidance, Seawood has successfully completed more than $1 billion in construction projects. Mr. Masi’s hands-on leadership is responsible for Seawood Builders’ footprint expanding across the Southeast and Central U.S. Mr. Masi led Seawood into the commercial construction and development arena in the mid-1990’s. Mr. Masi is a licensed general contractor and received his B.A. from the University of South Carolina.
WILLIAM D. SPRUCE
Mr. Spruce co-founded Education Development Specialists (EDS) in 2015 with Edward Masi. EDS focused on developing projects for educational institutions and owners in the education space. EDS is now Aventine Development, a premier full-service commercial real estate development firm.
Mr. Spruce was one of the founding partners of The North Broward Preparatory Schools in Coconut Creek, Florida. After the sale of the school to Sterling Partners in 2005, Mr. Spruce went on to become a member of the founding executive team of the Meritas Family of Schools for Sterling. From 2005 through 2013 Mr. Spruce served as Senior Vice President for Real Estate and Development and was responsible for campus expansions through acquisitions and development (land and/or facility acquisition, design, entitlement processes and construction); of nine schools between 2006 and 2012 in the U.S. and abroad.
At Aventine, Mr. Spruce takes the lead on all development projects representing the owners/investors throughout the process (initial due diligence; coordination and oversight of the third-party consultants including the design professionals, attorneys and contractors, etc.); and taking the project from concept through completion. In his career, Bill has completed school development projects totaling approximately $400,000,000 and nearly two million square feet in eight U.S. states and four countries.
Mr. Spruce received his B.A. from Curry College and his J.D. from Western Michigan University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
